Walking through the village there's a mixture of old and new where the tradition of elder men still sit and drink their coffees, and next to them modern cafes with young people. Platanos has many good hotels and other holiday accommodation and of course wonderful soft sandy beaches. The village has a selection of tavernas and shops. It is only 20 minutes from Chania’s international airport.
