Ierapetra offers many sightseeing attractions including a fully restored mosque, which is now used as a music school, Byzantine chapels, monasteries and churches. From the harbor you can take boat trip to the uninhabited island of Chrissi which is approx 12km from Ierapetra’s coast. When in Ierapetra you can enjoy wind surfing, jet skiing, scuba diving etc or relax in the many restaurants and tavernas which serve both traditional and international dishes. A number of cultural events start at the beginning of July and finish at the end of August with a variety of musical, theatrical and dancing performances. Ierapetra also boasts many bars, night clubs and cafe's some traditional and some very fashionable.
