Ammoudara’s main attraction is the long sandy beach where you can sit and enjoy a cold drink along or take part in the many water sports on offer such as parasailing. Entertainment at night ranges from restaurants to night clubs. There is an array of fashionable shops in the larger hotels plus jewelery, leather goods and specialty shops. There’s even a hypermarket with a Marks & Spencer. Half day and full day trips can be made from Ammoudara.
Ammoudara is a tourist resort on the western side of Heraklion city and boasts the longest beach in Iraklion area. It is located just 6km from Heraklion centre and 7km from the ancient Knossos palace. Along the main street of Ammoudari there are shops, bars and restaurants to satisfy all tastes.
